NEW MULTIFUNCTIONAL STRUCTURE FOR DEPARTMENTAL AND REHABILITATION ACTIVITIES OF FOGGIA ASL

The generating principles of the project were mainly: • the portico and the courtyard as elements of aggregation between the building and its park, between the need for autonomy of the individual departments and belonging to a single building body, between the public function of the building and its belonging to a city that can benefit from it regardless of the specific function; • the compactness of the volumes, which made it possible to close with the highest parts towards the railway and decrease towards the main entrance on the west side with the image of a garden on several levels thanks to the green roofs; • The control of vehicular flows and the differentiation with the pedestrian access routes, which allow to concentrate parking and accesses on the west side, avoiding the perimeter circulation that would have significantly reduced the park surface; • A compositional relationship with the existing urban fabric, in particular with the urban fabric of the city of the first expansion. The portico was immediately one of the founding elements of this project; It first becomes a guide for the user towards the entrances to the structure and towards the other external spaces such as the courtyard and the gardens to the east, and then becomes a space for waiting and socializing when it widens at the access to the courtyard. internal. It is a space that allows the user to be protected from atmospheric agents (rain and sun) but also to be able to stop outside the structure, waiting for a relative or waiting for their turn, immersed in the context of the park also thanks to the share of tax of 1 meter under the ground plan. Given the latest events related to the global pandemic, protected outdoor spaces are essential to allow safe waiting without congesting the internal spaces. But, from another point of view, we can think that the same space can also be used for small temporary exhibitions and presentations to the public. The internal courtyard is another important piece of the system of external spaces; it is the worthy conclusion of the portico system that brings the user inside the structure, a user who does not perceive his presence until it opens to his left after entering the Pharmacy Department; a public space that at the same time, given its location, also becomes an intimate space and which also overlooks the terrace of the relaxation area on the first floor
